Wisconsin

This is a small town called Sparta between Onalaska and Tomah.
We stopped in Tomah at a cheese store to get fresh cheese curds. Of course, we're in Wisconsin, what do you expect... cheese!
Good, but not delicious like we've had before.
Below are photos from on top of Grandad's Bluff in La Crosse! Beautiful!

This bridge that you see crosses over the Mississippi River. Less than half of a mile past the bridge is the Minnesota state line.

Wisconsin

Our first day in Wisconsin was really awesome! We "ran into" a concert, which was Christian, and there were speakers, air jumping and water entertainment for the children. So there were things for the whole family! It was so great!
This park is on the Mississippi River. It is on the border of Minnesota, so we went to Minnesota and stopped at one of the Lock and Dams on the river. We all loved seeing the boats entering the locks and the water rising and lowering. A real educational and fun experience!

We turned south and saw the ice fishing houses along the river too!

Wisconsin; Temp: 80s and 60s low. Much better and not as humid!

We enter Wisconsin!! We drove 7 hours from Illinois to get to our destination in La Crosse.
The weather is finally a bit cooler. It is in the 60s at night and 80s during the day, so this is much better than down south.

One of the photos is the entrance to the campground, Veterans Memorial. We were welcomed by a speed limit sign that included the sign, "No Snowmobiles." That is our second sign to see that we don't see down south. The other one was at the pond in Ohio, it said, "No wading, swimming or ice skating."
Have you ever seen a BLACK squirrel? Well, we had, but only once and that was in Belgrade, Serbia.

Illinois

We drove from Ohio to Joliet, Illinois, a 7 hour trip, and stayed here one night. We felt a pull to move on Northwest, so we didn't stay longer. Steve and I are up and walking/jogging in the mornings and we met a lady who was hoeing her garden. She was really sweet and had a beautiful, neat garden. She shared her collard greens with us! Yummy!
This bridge we crossed only minutes away from the campground. Looks a lot like the one we crossed in Louisville, KY.
The others are photos of our drive along the way towards Wisconsin! Lots more corn and soybean too, really. Some of the photos are hard to see unless you click on them to enlarge them.

We left all of the photos of the farmland and farms so that you could see that these farms really were miles upon miles and hours upon hours of Illinois.

Ohio and driving back through Indiana

We drove from Indiana to Ohio and stayed one night. We went to pray for friends of ours there. It was wonderful to see them and the area where they live. It is a former Shaker village. The Shakers ran an orphanage on the grounds and the retirement community that owns it today still owns 1300 acres of land!!!! It is filled with cornfields and soybean too. They also have a golf course, playground, a huge community garden and a pond filled with 3-4 feet long koi! The sign on the pond said: No Wading, Swimming or Ice Skating!! Now there's a sign you don't see in the south!! No ice skating!
Our few Ohio photos: There have been a lot of these flowers in Ind, Ill and Ohio. The moon was hanging right over a beautiful.... you guessed it, corn field!! With a beautiful barn next to it.

Below the photos of the corn fields are photos of our modern windmills. It was a surprise to see them, but even more surprising to see how many miles and miles there were of them. They filled the corn fields. It was immense!
