Colorado highs: 80s lows: 40-50s

Even though we're in beautiful Colorado we haven't done a lot of sightseeing here. School has started and it's been good to slow down and just have normal life....not traveling so much, that is. We will have actually been here a total of 3 weeks by the time we leave unless we decide to stay longer.

Drive to Cripple Creek, Colorado and the area of the town.

Looking down on the town of Cripple Creek and photos of in the town.

We stumbled upon this great Heritage center at the top of the mountain. It overlooks the city of Cripple Creek. Cripple Creek dates back to the 1800s when someone discovered gold in the area. There is still a gold mine just across the street from the heritage center. Originally a woman named Mollie owned the mining business, but the superstitious men (as history is told) did not like having a woman for a boss. So she sold the business to her son. However, whenever she would come by the mine all the men would leave until she left and then they would all return and work.
The heritage center was fabulous! A gorgeous view, a video to view, a large train with tracks on the bottom floor and lots of history to read throughout the building. They did a great job with this center, it's like a museum.
