Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio

Most, if not all, military bases have "hotels" on base for family members visiting soldiers. Here are a few photos of the nice hotel along with a few other photos of this base.
Nice covered playgrounds too for the children, and a grill.

We enjoyed this nice Air Force Base for several days, but then left to head north west. The drive on Interstate 10 was really beautiful. It was a sunny day, but there wasn't any humidity so when it reached the 80s it was pleasant instead of being scorching hot! As a matter of fact, we stopped to get gas at 11 a.m. and it was a little cool in the shade of the station! That's a NICE contrast to the heat and humidity of the south east.
Below are photos of our drive to Sonora, TX for one night. The scenery finally began to change for the typical Southern look to the expected western terrain.

We stopped here to stretch our legs.

And... we're back on the road...

Then we stop again to see the scenery. This was one of our long travel days, so we took time to stop. That means we drive more than 3 hours. This particular day we drove 5 1/2 hours.
