Waiting

We are at home and are waiting for our closing date. We had a closing date of the 18th of this month, but it was delayed. However, we have received word that we will probably be closing within the next few days!
We just wanted to update you and let you know our current situation.
If we do close within a few days, then we will be traveling to Columbia, South Carolina for about a week and a half. From there we plan to head northwest to Nashville, TN and then to Kentucky!

Fort Fisher, NC

We didn't even go to the beach yesterday, Wednesday. We went on an adventure instead and walked across rocks, jetties, that actually went to an island. It was quite long. It took us an hour walking to the island. It was great though and definitely an adventure! We saw so many small crabs on the island they looked like a bunch of ants walking around, but with solider like features holding up their shield of claws! Every hole that they wanted to climb into to get away from us was filled with another crab! It was not vacant! While walking across the rocks we saw small fishing boats, but mostly we watched the ferry boat run back and forth from Fort Fisher to the next island!
Every night we have a beautiful sunset.
We have such a beautiful view of the river here at our site.
We met some nice people yesterday, Mario and John. Mario is originally from Guatemala, he has lived in Anderson and he and his family are emptying their home to go RVing FULL TIME!!! How awesome is that! They will be featured on the Families On The Road website that we have listed on the side bar. You can find them there soon and read their blog and stories of their adventures too!

Have a great day!

Fort Fisher, NC

Every morning Christian and I (Julie) ride our bikes about 7. The river was very calm today and it was pleasantly cool. Well, at least cooler than it has been. We spent the day at the beach.
Yesterday Steve drove an hour and a half north to a Marine base to get military vehicle stickers for our cars. Something we will need while staying at the military campgrounds on base. When he came back we met a very nice family. One of their sons, a young adult, has just returned from Guatemala and working with orphans! It will be exciting to talk to him tomorrow when he gets in and hear all of his stories! I am sure that we will have much to talk about and that he will enjoy meeting our Guatemalan children.
We have had a nice break from the rain that we had at the beginning of this trip. Lots of sunshine!

More in North Carolina

We are enjoying our stay here. It is very humid. On our first day at the beach, Tuesday, we only got about 1 1/2 hours at the beach because it started raining. Wednesday the same thing happened! One night, I don't remember which one now, it poured rain during the night. It is quite an adventure to hear the rain on our roof!! We really love hearing it. I suppose it is kind of like living in a house with a tin roof. Very pleasant, but loud sometimes. In our home we didn't realize how strong the wind and rain was during bad storms.

Thursday it looked as if it was going to be rainy again so we went about a mile down the road to Fort Fisher History Museum. It is the location of a civil war battle. Very interesting to read the history and visit. We then turned north and traveled to Wilmington, NC. We walked the boardwalk that ran along the side of the Cape Fear River and saw steamboats and the Battleship North Carolina! It's HUGE! There is also a very large barge docking right across the river from our camper. At night it is beautiful because it is decked with lights! It has docked here now for 2 nights. The river is huge too!Yesterday we stayed at the beach most of the day, but the older boys got burned and did not return today. We did more school this afternoon and took it easy. It is nice to relax after so much packing and moving!
Hope you enjoy the photos and thank you again for checking in! Please remember to check out our ministry website to read updates and all that God is doing!

North Carolina

We are now officially full time campers! ;)
We moved out of our wonderful home on Saturday and Sunday and traveled Monday to the beach in North Carolina. We still have to return to close on our home and we still have a few, but very few, items to pack and give away/sell in our house.
Here are a few photos that Hunter has taken. Thank you for checking in. We will write more about this trip in a few days!
