Naval Station Mayport

We traveled one day on the ferry to cross the St. John's River to get to a plantation called Kingsley Plantation on Fort George Island. We had been there once before years ago.

On our drive out, we saw an armadillo on the side of the dirt road.

Then we passed this beautiful welcome center that was closed, unfortunately, but we decided to walk around and take photos of the place.

The back side of the welcome center.

After passing the armadillo and visiting the outside of the welcome center, we then passed a peacock as it was strolling down the road as if he owned it. We passed a truck stopped on the road with Alaska license plates who was also taking photos. I wonder what he was thinking about this peacock.

Naval Station Mayport

Birds enjoying the freedom of eating and living anywhere. Including the soldier's baseball field.

Since one of our sons is named Hunter, we liked the boat named Hunter.
He even has his own parking spot!

An office building on water. Makes it pretty mobile, doesn't it.

These are other navy soldiers. These men are not our U.S. soldiers.

In the town of Mayport. Florida has some old towns and villages!

This is a casino boat. If you look closely, you can see a playing card on the side of the boat.

One afternoon we were privileged to watch the French Navy depart on their submarine headed back to France! It was neat to watch them leave as they had been training with our soldiers.
