Kentucky

Since most of our time in Tennessee was visiting family we do not have lots of great landscape photos to share, so we thought we would go ahead and post our visit in Kentucky.

These are our first sights of Kentucky. We saw several miles of corn fields too.

We drove in from Nashville and headed straight for Mammoth Cave. We knew ahead of time that we might not go into the cave and that we would make that decision when we arrived.
Sure enough we decided to not go in, but really enjoyed the area, the gift shop, great books and photos in the visitors center.
We walked the trail down to the cave. As we walked down the hill to the entrance there was a tremendous drop in temperature. We were in 95 degree weather and as we descended down the hill our feet felt as though we had suddenly stepped into an air conditioned area. Then as we took another step or two we felt the cool, approximately 65 degree temperatures, all over! It was amazing!
We will try to update more photos very soon. We have been delayed in updating due to lack of sufficient internet service for 4 days in KY.
Below is a photo explaining the airflow in and around the cave. The last photo is of the mountain above the cave with a small waterfall.
